Uctu holds a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and was awarded a prize as one of the best Ph.D. students in 2013. While earning his Ph.D. he served as an Associate Postgraduate researcher at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China.
Uctu’s research interests lie in biotechnology of developing countries, university-industry links, technology transfer and commercialization, and industrial cluster research. He is currently focused on bio-entrepreneurial activities at Western Cape universities in South Africa. Uctu has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals. Uctu is responsible for teaching economics courses.
