May 2015 - The Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS) at AUIS invited the Dutch Ambassador to Iraq, Jeannette Seppen, to give a lecture on Dutch foreign policy.
Ambassador Seppen emphasized on the main aspects of the Netherlands political model, as well as the pillars of its foreign policy: international rule of law and solidarity. The Ambassador spoke for half an hour and had plenty of time to interact with students and answer their questions. Students asked diverse and challenging questions on issues ranging from Kurdish independence, to the fight against ISIS, foreign investment in Kurdistan, and educational opportunities for AUIS students in the Netherlands.
