Center for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) Project Coordinator

Full-Time (Sunday to Thursday 9:00-5:00)

One-year position to begin immediately

The Center for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) aims to become a vector of change by advancing gender parity in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the greater MENA region. One of CGDS’s core beliefs is that challenging deeply entrenched ideas about gender inequality and changing the everyday rhetoric requires a holistic approach. Knowledge produced in academic institutions needs to be disseminated within the relevant communities and integrated into capacity building projects.

CGDS integrates education, research, and community capacity building. In order to achieve those goals, the CGDS aims to establish strong links and serious dialogue with internal and external institutions such as government bodies, gender programs in other universities, and local and international NGOs. Those will allow for more coordinated, relevant, and efficient outreach initiatives.

Now in its third year, CGDS is growing in funding and activities, both current and planned. We are also increasing our collaboration with local, regional, and international communities. Our management team of three faculty is supported by four international consultants, three undergraduate interns, and four faculty members in various roles. We look forward to adding an energetic, experienced program coordinator to our team, as soon a possible.
